What Gets Tracked
NotifyBubble automatically tracks two key metrics for every notification you create. There's nothing to set up or configure. As soon as a notification is live on your website, tracking begins.
Views
A view is recorded when a visitor actually sees your notification content:
- Bubble notifications: A view is counted when the visitor opens the notification panel (not just when they see the floating icon). This means your view count reflects genuine interest.
- Textbox notifications: A view is counted as soon as the notification appears on the page, since the content is immediately visible.
Clicks
A click is recorded when a visitor clicks your call to action button. If your notification doesn't have a CTA button, clicks won't be tracked for that notification.
Click Through Rate (CTR)
The click through rate tells you what percentage of visitors who saw your notification actually clicked the button. It's calculated as:
CTR = (Clicks / Views) x 100
For example, if your notification got 1,000 views and 50 clicks, your CTR is 5%.
What Makes Good Numbers?
| CTR Range | Rating | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| Below 2% | Below average | Consider updating your message or button text |
| 2% to 5% | Average | Solid performance for most use cases |
| Above 5% | Above average | Your message is resonating well with visitors |
View Deduplication
Views are deduplicated per session. If the same visitor sees your notification multiple times during one visit, it only counts as one view. This prevents inflated numbers and gives you accurate, meaningful data.
Tips for Better Performance
- Keep your message clear: Get to the point quickly so visitors understand the value
- Use contrast: Colors that stand out from your website naturally draw attention
- Write compelling button text: Action words like "Get", "Try", "See", and "Join" perform well
- Position strategically: Place notifications where visitors naturally look on your page
- Test different types: Try both bubble and textbox to see what your audience prefers
- Review regularly: Check your analytics weekly and adjust underperforming notifications
